RESEARCH
Without measurement of the health of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender across Scotland, it is difficult to adapt services to respond to patient need. The Inclusion Project aims to support all NHS researchers and commissioners of research to include lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues in studies. These issues are not just around sexual health but across the whole range of health and wellbeing.

For a fuller discussion see our publication Towards a Healthier LGBT Scotland. (Acrobat Reader pdf file)

We aim to provide practical support and we welcome suggestions for advice or guidance that may be useful. Please use the 'Contact Us' page to submit your suggestion.

LGBT Research Database

We are currently building a database of research which has been conducted about the health and wellbeing of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender. The aim is to support researchers in literature searches, identify areas requiring further work and to support the process of equality impact assessment.

We welcome suggestions for inclusion of recent research, whether it is peer reviewed or research published directly by the organisation that conducted it. Please use the 'Research Submission' page to submit your suggested reference, preferably with a copy of the abstract/summary.

LGBT Journals

We have a list of LGBT health journals and other related titles which can be accessed here.

We welcome suggestions for additions to the list, please let us know via the 'Contact Us' link on the navigation bar.

LGBT Health Research and Information Group

The Inclusion Project supports a small group of researchers in the field, mainly those active in LGBT sector organisations but also others from the NHS and academic sectors, to share knowledge, network and discuss new developments. The group has taken forward various pieces of work since inception in 2004.

The most recent is the publication of Getting it Right - LGBT Research Guidelines. We are happy to send printed copies, please use the 'Contact Us' page to submit your request. If you would like to be invited to attend the group please use the 'Contact Us' page to submit your request.
